A stalled cleanup of a Bahrain Bay, now stagnant after years of neglect and misuse, is finally about to start. However, special safety precautions will have to be taken due to fears that hazardous gases in Tubli Bay could actually explode during work. Those gases reportedly include high levels of methane and it is understood toxic sludge in the bay is up to seven metres deep in some places. However, authorities have now set aside BD15 million for the bay renovation, the councillor following up the project, Abbas Mahfoodh, told the GDN. |
